The Dakota people and their allies in Mankato have invested a great deal in this movement of reconciliation, working together for over half a century. Monuments and ceremonies have been offered, with the hopes and prayers of a whole generation, for the healing that we all need. The Creator has been listening and is giving us this opportunity, to raise a voice that will be heard around the world, like that shot at Lexington in the first revolution. You are called to be part of that. With your help, Mahkato Organization will help facilitate that voice.
Welcome Home, by A White Rainbow, ©2016 Along The Way, MN is a manifesto of healing, circulated as a fund-raiser to start up this new Mahkato Organization. The book title, "Welcome Home," is about welcoming the Dakota people back to their homeland, atoning for the wrongs of past generations, and renewing life and community, but it is not just for or about Indians. It is for those who need healing the most, each other! Here in the Dakota Homelands, Mahkato Organization Welcomes and Joins All of You in that Good Fight for Reconciliation – to Make Allies – Dakota – of All People.
To Honor the Thirty Eight Dakota Warriors who were hung in Mankato in 1862, and All Warriors willing to do and give whatever it takes for reconciliation, to resolve conflicts, to protect what is good, and to make the world better, add your name as a new member of the Mahkato Organization to receive news updates, and to create new opportunities for healing.
The time is right and the way is clear. We will welcome all people and nations to this reconciliation. Register and make an optional donation, order additional copies to pass this invitation on to your friends, and order a signed copy for yourself, or just register to receive updates by email. Visit here, Mahkato.org frequently as the organization grows and develops, and I update the website, and join the group on facebook Mahkato.Organization for news, and opportunities to know and work with other members.
Consider directing the organization as well as supporting it. Look at the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Business Plan, Current Status, and think about how you or someone else could help me, an independent publisher Along The Way, to help this seed grow. Where Your Heart Is is a Mankato USBank Business Account used to simplify records and auditing of funds processed by Along The Way specifically for charitable contributions.
Understand that "Welcome Home" is not just a good book, or one you would have to share my prejudice to think it is. It is just the main artefact of my prayer over several decades, especially recent years, about humanity, about the future, and whether we have one. It is sacred art that is between me and my vision. I may be a holy man because that is important to me, but I am just an ordinary man. I hope the seed grows, but that is mostly not up to me. I just put it out there. If you want to see what the book is about, you may download the manuscript and the dust jacket here too, before you decide to help it grow.
The tragic events of 1862 epitomize the folly and trauma of the whole American Holocaust and can represent our whole human condition in need of reconciliation, sanity, and justice. The irony and tragedy of the execution in 1862 with all its circumstance, forces a lesson upon us that takes a while to sink in, like the execution of Jesus to force an allegiance to Rome. Those attempts to force an allegiance proving its own justice ~ failed! They proved that the established power of money and law cannot change truth, cannot make any wrong right, any right wrong, or even tell us which is which.
Rather than prove themselves right, they proved that you cannot kill that which cannot die: the sovereign spirit, which is (among other realities) responsibility, freedom, and truth. The creative good will, or sovereignty, for better or worse in every individual, is the Creator's own, the Christ, here to judge and rule. Welcome Home!
The satire that is our modern politics and governance is not new, but I hope that everyone watching it can let what is revealed sink in. It is not just about leaders who are too incredibly stupid to be fixable and need to be replaced. Our responsibility for each other and the environment goes way beyond electing the leaders we distrust least. The vice and folly that the satire exposes, is about most of us who unwittingly trust others with our own responsibility ~ when they obviously cannot take care of it for us. The good news is they cannot actually take it away from us either.
Realize what is at stake and bring the needed change no matter what it takes, how long it takes, and no matter who is in the elected office. This satire is no joke, but let it sink in until you can laugh at yourself and change. It may be more like terror than humour as you realize the serious condition of our species, but don't lose hope for each other, the earth, or your self. Own the serious responsibility of being human and the freedom that goes with it. Together we will actualize our true potential and joy of life that has been oddly hidden from common knowledge by a thin veil of acceptance or despair.
By recognizing our common ground of good will with and for each other, we can find healing for all the conflicts, and for all the violence and inhumanity that troubles our memories and community. That fight is not against other people, but against established thinking and ignorance of our true potential for freedom, responsibility, and reconciliation; it is against an insanity that assumes the establishment is responsible for itself, and assumes conflict is caused when others simply refuse to accept what is already established or right and they must therefore be forced to accept. But conflict can always be resolved by assuming that the others have valid rights and needs that can and will be met with mutual solutions.
It is increasingly apparent that some very big changes are now immanent, and are already in progress. What is less obvious is how much choice and influence we have to guide the outcome, each of us and all of us. It is also less understood how much is at stake, and how tenuous is our claim to this earth home. All of humanity is a very big and sudden change in the life of this planet, but we are still just at the point where we will make the biggest choices, about what this humanity is and will be. It is surprising that this is not more obvious, and that it is not easier to see how so many things are coming together for us right now to use for our own good and best hope. We will wonder why we didn't see it sooner, and we will be glad we saw it in time.
Soon compassion, empathy, sharing, and community will universally pervade our sense of self and honor, along with perfect freedom and creative individuality. Soon that will simply be known as our normal common sense sanity. Like puppies first opening their eyes in wonder, or the buds of spring opening to the brilliance of the sun, we will open our hearts and minds unhindered to the awesome beauty of creation, and breath joy as readily as air, and give of ourselves, what we are made of, in gratitude, like the fragrance of those flowers opening in the spring. This is our spring of springs. Feel it. Know it. We will grow out of the rest. Exceptions will just be exceptions with special needs. We will know them, care for them, maybe heal them, but they will have no power over us by fear, and we will not destroy ourselves because of them with hate.
We will have little time or desire to pursue things we don't want or need. But we will be so rich, and empowered to express and celebrate anything we remember or imagine and love most. Children, those sacred beings, knowing this within themselves to begin with, will be protected and raised without loosing their sanity. They are still our best teachers. We will be free to build on our best traditions, and still be free to make and learn from our mistakes.
Culture, tradition, language, diversity, individual rights and preferences, will be honored and protected, preserving both our collective and personal wealth of humanity. This is not merely naive optimism. It is as clear as can be the best choice we are offered, our best intention, and our only sanity, but we have to choose to receive this grace. It will be nothing short of a global revolution of non-violence, with merely a few political resolutions and the voice of our common conscience.
